Heroes are the central focus of this year’s Fort Myers Beach Film Festival. From the heroes that fight the fantastic, to those that protect and serve, the theme of the festival celebrates the exceptional.
Starting this Wednesday, April 22nd, the Beach Theater will be host to screenings of independent films from both local and visiting talent. The festival’s first film screening will be "Heroes: Behind the Badge," a documentary about law enforcement officers who have found themselves in the line of fire and survived.

The Film Festival will continue over the next five days, filled with both movies and workshops.
Attending this year’s event will be Ryan Potter, the young actor who voiced Hiro in Disney’s CGI superhero film “Big Hero 6,” who will make an appearance at the Pink Shell Resort at dusk on the 23rd, where a screening of “Big Hero 6” will take place. Potter will also be visiting Fort Myers Beach Elementary School at 1 p.m. Friday.

The Beach Elementary has also entered several student films into the festival. They will be screened at the Beach Theater at 3 p.m. on the 26th.
In total, 78 films will be featured, chosen from over 200 by the festival’s volunteer committee.

Admission to the films and workshops will be $7, while a ticket to the Welcome Reception on the 21st at the home of Al and Kathy Durrett will cost $25.
The selection of the winning films will take place on the 26th at 6 p.m. There will be both a People's Choice Award Winner and a Best Feature Winner.
Tickets can be purchased at http://www.fmbfilmfest.com
