The Sun Bay Paper begins a new journey this week as we embark into our third year in production of the only Conservative voice in the greater Lee & Collier County area.                        Our website analytics improve weekly and our new Twitter account and Face Book page continue to gain fan attention. We thank you for your support and look forward to further growth within the communities we represent.

These are strange times we are living in and while that statement has been passed around for decades it resonates louder than ever right now. The world is in chaos, Iran, Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan/Israel for starters and lets not forget North Korea with it's leader slinging threats of military aggression directly at America and at our allies.

Meanwhile, in the US, while actually passing many new laws,  a partisan and non partisan Congress fight amongst themselves on the major issues facing our nation. While the Dow Jones breaks the 22 ceiling and still hovers close at 21.8 at the time of this printing, the markets in general are enjoying new highs, unemployment has dropped to 4.3% after reaching it's high in 2009 of 10%. Manufacturing plants continue the new trend to remain or move back to the US and consumer optimism grows.

"Americans last week registered their strongest optimism in 16 years on more upbeat views about the state of the economy, their personal finances and the buying atmosphere," according to Bloomberg.  People are more confident in our economy overall But as a people we are torn...

As one of my liberal friends told me, "Sure, and Nero fiddled as Rome burned," referring to the eminent doom to come over the verbal battle going on between our POTUS and the "Not So Slim One" (the NSSO - N. Korean Chairman Kim Jong-un, who takes offense to being called 'fat'). I know what you're thinking, 'what? I have liberal friends?' Yes, it's true, I do have liberal friends, for I am a Freemason and for centuries, the "Masons" have known the value of  having opposing opinions and still maintaining friendships. We open and close our meetings with prayer and pledge allegiance to our Flag too. There is wisdom in good discussions of opposing views, I recommend you try it, there are a few simple guidelines to keep things amicable though.

    1) No Name Calling. There just is no need for it and makes the name caller, look like an Idiot. (please excuse my name calling here but it was necessary to make the point)

    2) Discuss the topics and your side of the argument only, the other view or viewer should be left for your counter part to explain and should not be discussed by you at all.

    3) Do not interrupt and give adequate time for the opposing view to speak their mind.

That about covers it, I believe you'll be surprised how well discussions can go if these simple guidelines are adhered to.

And before we discuss N. Korea, I believe the greater threat facing our nation is the attempt to overthrow our government and impeach our duly elected President. The attack that mainstream media and criminal "leakers" have unleashed on this administration has been called a 'witch hunt',  unfortunately that term doesn't even come close to describing what is happening. It is obvious that the only colluding going on is between that media and the deep state hell bent on Impeachment, but the question is where is the crime that has been committed?

Compared to the previous administration which had a Fast and Furious gun scandal, the illegal sale of arms to Mexican traffickers, IRS scandal, where the agency was illegally used to target and harass the president’s political enemies, President Obama’s secretary of state was involved in a high-profile case in which she improperly set up a private e-mail system to evade ordinary governmental oversight; she and her associates routinely misled investigators, obstructed investigations, and hid or destroyed evidence.  The Obama administration made a 1.3 billion dollar ransom payment in cash to the Iranian government and lied about having done so. Under our past administration the Secret Service was involved in drunk driving and prostitution scandals, Obama’s men at the Veterans Administration oversaw a system in which our servicemen lost their lives to bureaucratic incompetence and medical neglect, then falsified records to cover it up. Attorney General, Eric Holder, left office while being held in contempt of Congress for inhibiting the investigation of other Obama administration scandals.....and that administration came out squeaky clean.

The hypocrisy is hard to accept. And now we await a Muller Grand Jury verdict from jurors chosen from a place where Trump only got 4% of the vote. This attack on our President does not only place a magnifying glass on him but also on our Democracy in general, for if America allows this farce to happen our democracy will be seen as a fraud. And the backlash will poison our political system and divide our country in such a way that only the conflict between the North and South of the revolutionary war will compare.

Now back to POTUS and the NSSO, I think it's a lot of saber rattling,  I pray that N. Korea does not strike any of our allies or attempt an attack against our mainland. I believe that our president has stated very clearly that it would be a mistake to do so. I do not believe that we are instigating any aggression by clearly stating that any N. Korean attack will immediately be met with a stronger military response and I believe it should be so if the NSSO moves forward in any shape or form militarily.

While I believe that N. Korea already has some nuclear capabilities, I believe their technologies will only improve with every passing day, I also pray that the US does not strike first in any shape or form.

YES, these are strange times we are living in, may God help us!

I thank you again for your continued support as we celebrate our second birthday and begin our third year, your continued support, praise for our endeavors and letters to the editor help inspire us to push on.

Civil War!

Since the writing of this editorial, our nation has had a turn for the worse.

I believe the events in Charlottesville, Va. can be partly blamed on mainstream media who have been fanning the fires of hatred and racism for the past 8 years and continue to misinform the public and whip their ‘faithful’ into a frenzie. A media that quickly dismisses the attack by James Hodgkinson on Republicans politicians playing baseball, or sweeps under the rug a comedian holding up a severed head of our President.

Let me clarify, I am against all forms of supremacy, whether it be the KKK, Black Panthers, Nazi Party, Jihadist or any other group that feels they are better than others for whatever reason seems to work for them.

This same media has been stirring the pot against the confederate flag and has created a hatred against all things relating to the South during the Civil War in the US and has decided to erase American history and take down monuments and statues to shape our country into their own perfect view.

History is not right or wrong, it is history period.

This country is acting like the Russian leader Stalin who literately erased his enemies from their history after assuming power..

There is an old expression “Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Sir Winston Churchill said that. There are many in this country who do not want to see our history erased. Statues of past  confederate generals are not symbols of oppression.

Our constitution gives us the right to free speech and expression, this group of white nationalist were opposed to the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee, a graduate of West Point, served as an exceptional officer and engineer in the Army for 32 years and as superintendent of West Point.

Now, whether you like them or not, they got a permit to hold a rally to express there opinion against the removal of the statue.

If they were allowed their rally, which they had a right to hold, without violent opposition, that would have been it, the statue still would have been removed as scheduled and no one would have gotten hurt. I have to agree with the President, both sides were involved in what happened.

My heart and prayers go out to friends and family of Heather Heyer and to all those injured by James Alex Fields Jr. who should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

Peaceful freedom of speech should be allowed to happen regardless of one agreeing with the message.
