President Barrack Obama's travels to Roseburg, Oregon, were met with protests from residents who feel the Chief Executive is using the tragic shooting as an excuse to advance his gun control agendas and not to genuinely console the families of those killed in the recent violence at Umpqua University.

Conservative Douglas County is a family community where children are taught respect for guns and most of the areas youth have firearm familiarity from an early age. hunts and have for generations. These families are gun owners who use their firearms for hunting, target shooting and self-protection. The commonly held opinion in the area is that the solution to mass killings is more people carrying guns, not fewer.

"The fact that the college didn't permit guards to carry guns, there was no one there to stop this man," said Craig Schlesinger, pastor at the Garden Valley Church.

Obama has been quick to leap on the shooting as justification for further restrictions on firearm sales. His most recent request was for his staff to tell him "how far he could go within legal frameworks" to unilateral tighten registration requirements for licensed gun dealers.

Critics see this latest move by the President as the continuation of using Executive Power to override Congress in areas that should be its providence.
