To the wise leaders of our great nation

To the wise leaders of our great nation and to those in other nations who follow the lead of America:

Many talks are debating and floating about in our present political system regarding how illegal aliens could get permanent resident status in our country.

Many of these "public" conversations are anything but since they usually occur without public input regarding the matter. If we collectively make any big mistakes about this immigration issue it will create major economic, political and social consequences for our country.

One major consideration are the economic issues: Despite the liberal spin about how much they contribute to our economy, Illegal aliens are eating our public funds (tax dollars) and becoming a big burden to tax payers and a drain on our national economy. Our national and state treasuries are being drained by WIC programs, free education, health care, maintaining law enforcement including custodial holding centers and other benefits for illegal aliens and their anchor babies.
Then we must consider the political issues: Any wrongful facts used as a basis for decisions to grant immigration status to illegal aliens and their anchor babies will destroy the foundation of the political climate in our society and eventually will drag us down to a Third World country level. It has been projected by some that by 2040 to 2050 white and black populations will taper off and reproduction rates will fall even lower than where they already are. Not so with the offspring of illegal aliens - they will increase and those numbers will translate into votes giving them the possibility of controlling our country from the White House down to our local governments. In many cases it has been found that public officials who have no college degrees get into power through our one man-one vote system. That may be fine in principle but without adequate education public officials are not able to function properly and fulfill the responsibilities of their offices.
Our country has also turned into a dumping ground criminals from neighboring countries. We already do not have enough law enforcement officers to control the crime. Most of our illegal aliens and anchors babies came from poor socio-economic backgrounds, lacking respect for our systems and often inadequately educated. By 2040 to 2050, they will be a majority in our society, and the current white majority will be a minority themselves. At that time it is unlikely we will continue to compete on the world stage as many of the illegal's coming into America today lack the skills to face the technological changes rapidly occurring in the world.

We have been a super power and stabilizing influence for the planet for over 70 years and our European and Asian allies depend on us for strength and conviction. If we lose this stature, China and Russia will dominate the world. Moreover, when the current wave of immigrants, both legal and illegal become the majority they may use that status to try and change or amend our Constitution to suit their needs and beliefs. They will, in effect, usurp and use our democratic processes in the Congress to further weaken the national identity so long cultivated by our forefathers. We run the very real risk that our future generation of children will be minority and orphaned children in the very nation we formed for their legacy.

Social Issues: We are already in a distressed situation over the millions of illegal aliens already here and they are reproducing thousand more to "anchor baby" their progeny on our soil. After crossing the border, their friends and relatives give them shelter and they assimilate in their own closed off communities and ignoring our main stream culture. There are currently no checks and balances on this process. Some may try and portray this movement as lacking any direction. But there are very intelligent and smart operatives at work to facilitate their intrusion into our country. Some just want to destroy the fabric of our country; some want cheap labor and others have genuine need but whatever the reasons, there is a systematic movement underfoot and they know how to beat our constitution and manipulate our system of government. To me, the main objective is to ultimately become the majority population of our nation. If we don't control this growth, we will be overran and too few seem to grasp the danger of this end result.

Finally, we need to use and extend legal immigration status to business class, educated people that will enrich our strength in every field of business development and scientific progress. Stop granting immigration status to people where we do not know their background and history. If this continues unabated, then our country will be a nation where illegal drugs, prostitution, criminal activities, bribery, corruption and general moral decay will continue to run rampant. Already the number show quite clearly that more tax dollars are spent arresting and prosecuting illegal's proportionately than native citizens. And they also drive without licenses and often leave the scenes of accidents as they have no proof of license or insurance. Hit and runs are common in areas where illegal's gather and highway statistics, where available support this.

Our citizens and future generations do not want to see our country become like the places these illegal's flee to fleece our country of its wealth and security. They do not want more amnesty and there have been a lot of them. We must control our borders and stop these flows now or we'll wind up a third world nation soon. Democrats and Republicans should work together to build our nation up; not for personal gain. To our leaders please stop playing with the fire of “IMMIGRATION” and pass a bill for the protection of our country. Most of all, get and listen to the people’s opinion. They live on the ground and see the consequences for the future of our country if strong action is not taken now.

Ed. Note: The above guest commentary mentions "more amnesty". To the best of our knowledge there have been seven "amnesties" passed by congress in the past thirty years

1. The Immigration and Reform Control Act (IRCA), 1986: A blanket amnesty for some 2.7 million illegal aliens
2. Section 245(i) Amnesty, 1994: A temporary rolling amnesty for 578,000 illegal aliens
3. Section 245(i) Extension Amnesty, 1997: An extension of the rolling amnesty created in 1994
4. Nicaraguan Adjustment and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) Amnesty, 1997: An amnesty for close to one million illegal aliens from Central America.
5. Haitian Refugee Immigration Fairness Act Amnesty (HRIFA), 1998: An amnesty for 125,000 illegal aliens from Haiti
6. Late Amnesty, 2000: An amnesty for some illegal aliens who claim they should have been amnestied under the 1986 IRCA amnesty, an estimated 400,000 illegal aliens
7. LIFE Act Amnesty, 2000: A reinstatement of the rolling Section 245(i) amnesty, an estimated 900,000 illegal aliens {Source: Numbers USA}
