Carl Co-founded this paper with Trent Townsend and sold the paper to Bobby Mimmo & Associates in 2016.
Carl has been writing for the public for over 35 years, 25 of them in newspapers with over 16 years experience in SW Florida. He was a staff writer for the Breeze Newspapers then later Editor-in Chief and Publisher of the Island Sand Paper, which he sold after 10 years at the helm in 2010.
Carl holds a BA and Juris Doctorate and was a Golden Dozen winner and finalist in the prestigious Golden Quill competition for excellence in editorial writing on an environmental topic. Has work as a licensed attorney, specialty auctioneer; Editor of the Law Review, Chairman of the Board for the Chamber of Commerce. board member and Director of several Lee County Arts Organizations, time spent teaching English at the University level and veteran news reporter and columnist for several magazines.
Carl is bilingual and an avid, accomplished jazz saxophonist, singer and recording artist who continues to perform in a variety of venues around the county. He has three children, 8 grandchildren.

Bobby started in the paper business back in 2000 when he volunteered at the Island Sand Paper on Fort Myers Beach, learning the ins and outs from the ground up on the job. while helping Carl Conley get that paper started, Bobby got a desk top publishing degree the hard way, through trial and error. Carl went on to sell the paper ten years later to travel.
5 years later, in 2015 Carl Conley and Trent Townsend started a new venture, the Sun Bay Paper and asked Bobby to come on board to do be the Production Manager.
Things were going well as the first year progressed, but Trent decided to leave the company and Bobby bought in, 3 months after the first year anniversary Carl also left the company and Bobby purchased all assets and became owner with his silent partner investors.
