Veterans Florida, a state-created organization, helps Veterans make Florida home by providing information on state benefits and connections to jobs and career entrepreneurship training, colleges and universities, and real estate professionals who can help Vets buy the home of their dreams.
Through their Career Services Program, they connect you with Florida employers who are seeking to hire veterans for jobs that put the skills learned in the military to use.
Over 25% of veterans want to start their own business. Opportunity, freedom and challenge attract them to business ownership, maybe you one of them? Veterans Florida has partnered locally with FGCU and state-wide with 5 other institutes of higher learning to create the Veterans Florida Entrepreneurship Program.
This program offers Vets tuition-free, online and on-campus instruction designed to match up with your level of knowledge and your busy schedule, by providing three pathways of instruction.
The first pathway comprises online lessons that will familiarize you with basic terminology and concepts. The second pathway offers specialized workshops held on the campuses of our academic partners. The third pathway is an advanced on-campus program that delves more deeply into all aspects of entrepreneurship.
Seats are limited. The Advanced program starts February 7th but the application process has been open for some time and the deadline to apply is Tuesday January 30, 2018 APPLY TODAY by going to their website: http://www.veteransflorida.org/veterans and then click on the "Entrepreneurship Training" link.
From February 2018 to May 2018, selected participants will attend at least 60 hours of in-class training held at one of our participating institutions of higher education. This will prepare participants for all elements of entrepreneurship. The face-to-face instruction will provide an opportunity for hands-on learning and application of fundamental principles facilitated by business experts. The curriculum will include concepts ranging from crafting a business plan to accessing capital for new business ventures.
Following graduation, alumni will have the option to receive ongoing mentorship from our participating institutions, local business leaders, mentors, Veterans Florida staff, and Florida SBDC business consultants. Graduates of the program will have exclusive access to our alumni network, will be invited to alumni events and receive specific feedback regarding their business to get support in navigating common challenges and drive success.
