Matanzas Bridge will close at 9am, for the The Shrimp Run 5k, presented by Cypress Lake High School Athletic Booster Club and Cypress Lake High School. The “Shrimp Run” has historically been one of the most popular races in Southwest Florida. and traffic headed to the beach will be backed up all the way to the mini golf putt putt, so do not wait to head over to the beach this Saturday morning, If you are not in that traffic by 8 a.m. you will be on the wrong side of the bridge when they close it down.
The race starts just after 9a.m. and takes up the first hour of the day and is followed by the Shrimp Festival Parade along a 2 mile route from SeaGrape Plaza to Times Square where you will find a variety of floats and decorated cars, Shrimp Festival Princesses and Shriners... Lots and lots of Shrines.
Parade Trophies will be awarded for 10 various categories for decorations and different businesses, groups and organizations.
After the parade, head down to Lynn Hall Park where the award winners will be announced and this year’s Shrimp Festival Queen will be crowned.
There will be loads of fresh Gulf Shrimp being cooked to perfection and available for your dining pleasure at many booths in and around the park.
